China Web2.0 Review

Written by Richard MacManus / November 7, 2005 7:56 PM / 6 Comments

Here's a site to keep an eye on - an English language blog about Web 2.0 in China:

"China Web2.0 Review is a blog dedicated to track and review web2.0 development in China. We will profile and review web2.0 applications, products, services and business in China, and track the buzz about web2.0 in Chinaís internet industry as well."

China Web2.0 Review has an interesting post about FeedSky, which is like China's answer to Feedburner (although more than that, according to the post).

Hat-tip Rex Chung for the link. It's great to see what's happening outside Silicon Valley and I hope to discover more international Web 2.0 blogs.

  • Hmm, Aimi.cn looks familiar. (It's an exact clone of 43things.com.)

  • It's really interesting to see that Web 2.0 may be more than just a Silicon Valley phenomena!

  • I really hate the Chinese for their lack of respect for intellectual property. Aimi.cn is just one example. There are many, many more.

  • it is a little surprise for me to know that Read/Write Web talked about CWR in such a short time. I just proposed the blog in a week ago, and currently there are three contributors for this blog, and still trying to find good bilingual bloggers as contributors, and update it regularly.

Tinus, I agree with you that there are many Chinese website who don't show respect to IP and just wanna copy ideas from outside world, but there are also great site in China. Our China Web2.0 Review just want to introduce those creative ideas and biz to English blogosphere, and will also show our attitude on those site who copy the ideas.

  • Keep up the excellent work Tangos, there is a real need for your blog in the english-speaking world. I know there is a lot of innovation going on in China, but due to the language barrier we don't often get to hear about it.

Also folks if there are similar english-speaking sites for other Asian (or any other continent) countries - please let me know by email readwriteweb@gmail.com. Thks.

  • Hi
As I am reading the article now, tears came out of my eyes as I am an Chinese but from Taiwan.
I was ashamed lil bit, but if you turn around and take a look, you will see how people start to copy a "Good Idea"...
Let's say how about -- first social networking website_Friendster.com, can you all say that myspace, orkut, and ...other bunch of webs are all copier? how about ebay? and bunch of other auction sites ^^
This is all depend on your point of view?
Haven't you seen that once a car manufacturer makes a new style and when it became a hit, then all others start to kinnda copy its style...bla bla bla
I follow up web 2.0 news everyday.
I always want to have a website which has every features I want, and now it's time to take off as I am looking for programmers (based on ajax)to do the dirty job for me ^^.
Basically, I have this idea for more than 3 years(as soon as I knew AJAX, I know that my dream web is coming alive in the future) in mind and always try to find a web or program to fill my need. But it failed miserably. some of webs come very close to what I need, but still not good enough such lack of UI or not user friendly ...
    Anyhow, just my lil thought.
and will let you guys know once my project is done. (btw, I live in Taipei & US...fly back and forth and frequently to China)
