I'm expecting Yahoo to really the ante with Google and Microsoft in terms of mashup ecosystems. Don't count out AOL and eBay either. [...]

IF federated trust finally comes to life via Infocards or some other mechanism then what would stop me having a client application that mashes up the best parts of the web i.e Google Search,Flickr, Messenger, and seamlessly logs me onto all of these services with one userid.

Equally using Greasemonkey I could then hid all of the adverts. The question is where does the GYM club then make its money? The software is free. I would not need a commerical API license and I would not be a billboard customer for them to pass adverts through me? I wonder as they keep releasing new API's if they have gone that far in their thinking?
