The king of YouTube's All Time Most Viewed Leaderboard, Judson Laipply, creator of the Evolution of Dance, has been unseated. The new leader is a fast climbing Italian video on top of a remix of a Brazilian song popularized by an iPod Touch commercial and titled "CANSEI DE SER SEXY Music is My Hot Hot Sex". Foul play is suspected, however, as the new leader displays a number of statistical anomalies in viewership numbers.
It's a new era for YouTube. No longer is the number one video of all time a plucky American dancing to 50 years of this country's greatest hits. The new leader is a video made and viewed primarily from outside the U.S., explicitly tied to a current commercial campaign and suspected to be part of the now widespread cheating on the site.
LiveVideo.com, an online live video community that is a subsidiary of LiveUniverse, Inc. has now acquired 100% of Revver's stock. The acquistion will combine Revver's millions of visitors and 40 million monthly video streams with LiveVideo's social network, video, and live interactive offerings used by 200,000+ users per day. Both companies wil continue to operate their separate domains. Although Revver is happy by the deal and the promotion opportunities is will allow, Revver would have never been in this position if it wasn't for MySpace's decision to kill Revver in the first place.
The popular RSS aggregator web site, ReadBurner is no more. Today, the site's homepage reads:
"I'm sorry to announce that ReadBurner is no longer availiable. The reason is that I just don't have time to keep the site up and running, because of some freelance projects that I cannot drop out. I really want to thank all of you guys for supporting me, giving me feedback and visiting ReadBurner. It's been very exiting to run a website that got so much Buzz from the blogosphere in such a short period of time. If you are still interested in the idea of ReadBurner I suggest you to try out RSSmeme which is a very well done clone of ReadBurner developed by Benjamin Golub."
Today's winning comment comes from our feature-by-feature comparison of Office Live Workspace and Google Docs. In the post Sarah Perez concluded that "Google Docs, although limited in its capabilities, offers real-time collaboration", while "Office Live Workspace [...] may not have the collaboration features of Google Docs, but the workspaces feature is unique." As usual when we compare Google with Microsoft office products, the discussion was feisty. Jrome's comment stood out though: he pointed to a compelling feature in Google Docs called GoogleLookUp. He explains below:
RSS is easily one of the best things to happen to web publishing in the past 10 years. It allows users to easily keep track of news from multiple web sites because updates are delivered directly to them. But the problem many people face is that there are so many sources of information that we're trying to keep track of, we've become buried. Information overload is a real problem for many web users, and one way to cope with it is to filter your RSS feeds so you only see what you want to see.
WordPress parent company Automattic got good blog-press today with the hire-acquire of social networking plug-in suite BuddyPress, further indication that the blogging company is preparing to blur the lines in social media and challenge the likes of Facebook and MySpace. The elephant in the middle of the room, though, is data portability and distributed social networking.
Now that there are millions upon millions of dollars in play, is Automattic moving toward a strategy that will prioritize growing its own market share far beyond (and sometimes at the expense of) a broader vision of user-centric social networking?

Prime Time Rewind is a new web site that allows you to watch network TV for free online by using their web site. The shows that are played are identical to what the networks release on their own web sites, the only difference is that Prime Time Rewind aggregates them together in a unique way.
Today, Microsoft announced that the Office Live Workspace beta is publicly available for everyone to access. The site, a free web-based extension of Microsoft Office, lets you access your documents online and share your work with others. Some say that the service's launch is a direct response to Google's entry into the web office space with their Google Docs online service. If that's so, then the question now is: did Microsoft just trump Google Docs? Or does Google Docs still rule online office suites?
Nokia today announced that it has reached a deal with Microsoft to put Silverlight, Redmond's so-called "Flash killer," on its S60 Symbian OS-powered smartphones, as well as Series 40 devices and its range of Linux-based Internet tablets. ReadWriteWeb network blog last100 has the details.
