Today I gave a presentation at the Media08 event in Sydney, entitled: What's Next on the Web? Web Technology Trends for 2008 and Beyond. It's an overview of some of the top trends we cover on ReadWriteWeb; such as Websites becoming web services, Semantic Apps, Open Data, Mobile Web, Recommendation Engines. The presentation is available as a slideshow (embedded below). Each slide has links to ReadWriteWeb content, should you wish to drill down on a topic more.

I don't know the Media08 event, but what does this mean for the business world?
It would be interesting to address some slides on that subject too ;)

Just about every site featured in the slide is definitely at the forefront of new and emerging trends!

Semantics may be a trend, but I'm not sure about what it's future will be like this year. It's still a very confusing concept, even for some "geeks".

You have Teqlo listed on the 4th slide as pertaining to Web 3.0, but they went toes-up months ago. Gonna be hard to lead the Web 3.0 charge from the grave...

suggestion: trim down the content on your slides. they're so jam packed with info that your audience probably spent a lot of time just reading them and not focusing on you.

"...the slides in your presentation are about visual story-telling that complements your presence and speaking. They are not a script to be acted-out, or a book to be printed and read aloud, word for word."

the web will get more social, every new or relaunched site allows its readers to collaborate: make comments, store visited pages, see related threads, etc.

I did a presentation for an Entrepreneurship class on Web 2.0.

I'm going to have to do a bit more research about Semantic web as it's slightly difficult to get your head round.

Doubtless however, that mobile technologies will begin to make significant impacts on the web applications market as they become more popular. The Internet will no longer be about sitting at your desktop and typing with a keyboard.

The iPhone may even be the new standard.
