Javascript Hero: Some Awesome Friday Night Fun

We usually write about serious things here at ReadWriteWeb but it's Friday night and we've got to make an exception for Javascript Hero. Note: We're hearing reports that the site doesn't work well in IE, just so you know. It's the work of developer rock star John Resig and was brought to our attention by Chris Messina (again).

We'd tell you about it, but we'd rather you just go play it. Particularly if you're a Guitar Hero fan. Then take this opportunity to make a mental reminder to check out what Resig does and what Messina finds, too.

Very slick idea! Doesn't work too well in my FF browser, at least on this one computer - things got a bit out of sync and choppy. Video was fine, but notes on right side were a bit hard to follow after the first 30 seconds or so. Overall neat idea though - perhaps there'll be an engine released to allow people to do their own video/notation tunes and compete against each other! :)

It didn't work for me either in IE - video worked fine but nothing else showed up except the brief directions on how to play it.

Hmm, either I'm really bad or it runs way way too fast in FF. This kind of control especially needs some lead up time to get a little adjusted!

*Also I'm really bad at this.

The idea is pretty good. It would be perfect if there is some program that can analyze any youtube video and compile the song into a set of notes where the user can play.
