Living in Canada, I've been spared the joy of voting using Diebold's (now Premier Election Solutions') notorious machines. Given their track record, maybe it's time to consider another vendor - maybe someone with a huge installed base and a reputation for engaging, fun interfaces.

I'm thinking Nintendo. Wii-lections, anyone?

There are Diebold machines in use in Canada, and Elections Canada has announced plans to test Internet voting in a Federal byelection as well.

Australia has tried and tested election technology:

1. Pencil
2. Ballot Paper
3. Box

Use pencil to mark paper, place in box.

@Adam - Insanity. It'll never work.

@Richard - We're halfway there in B.C.: optical scanning machines reading the ballots. Probably explains why a write-in candidate named "SkyNet" has been creeping up in recent years...
