Having JUST (Dec 1st) relaunched a social/e-commerce website in the past week, I am interested in hearing information about the pros and cons of starting slowly, versus jumping in with both feet.

In our previous site launch, we spent months building a database of products, opened the doors of the site, and it was just too much product, and not enough interaction with our customer base.

In our relaunch, we decided to go social first, e-commerce second. Working on our customer relationships first. The site is a transition from our successful eBay business to a more controllable blog/e-commerce solution.

Unfortunately, I wont be around to listen to the show tonight, but will follow up with the recorded version in the morning.

I would imagine (or hope) that one of the key things that will come out of this would be the idea of allowing people to see prices / products any time of the day, where ever they are. That is what 5556Mall (http://5556mall.co.nz) has started in New Zealand (and can be ported around the world if your interested). Basically exposing on-line shopping sites via SMS / Text Message. We'll be looking into adding ratings from communities etc next year.

My 2 cents worth, if your doing an on-line shopping site, make it look nice on a mobile phone (it doesn't have to look great, just function) and allow people to easily leave comments / ratings - That's where we think the future is heading.
