Pingle Limitations

As Zee points out on the The Next Web, the only problem with Pingle is if you're in an area that has no reception, there is no way to save an update for posting until you do get reception.

"I'm likely stick to using Mail until Pingle integrate one feature "Outbox". Using Mail, should I not have access to the web, the app will automatically save any emails (updates) in the outbox until there's sufficient a connection for the email to be sent."

Perhaps that will be in the next version. Until then, if you give it a try, let us know what you think.

But Ping offers this for free and it works great. I not only use the ping.fm iphone app but I use the email portion to update my ping account 10-50 times a day which then of course updates all my social media networks. It is not an expensive app but it seems redundant.

There are definitely free ways to update Ping.FM from the iPhone. But none of them provided all the features that I wanted: either you couldn't post photos (the webapp), or you couldn't automatically include your GPS coordinates (webapp and email), or you couldn't easily see and pick from your preconfigured triggers (email), or list/edit/repost your previous pings, etc.

The Ping.FM guys have built a great product that will stand on its own for some people. That's why I haven't done a free Pingle Lite.

But some people will benefit from having all these features in one place in a program that doesn't require you to remember the Ping.FM syntax. For those who think it's worth a little money, this is one more choice than they had before.
