Goodmail Announces Embedded Video Email Platform

Goodmail Systems, specialists in email delivery campaigns that are certified via a cryptographic signature, today announced the launch of their embedded video platform. This new feature will allow customers to use the same trusted Goodmail service to send emails with a multimedia edge.

]]> On the end-user side, inclusion of video is pretty straight-forward. Emails have an Adobe Flash widget that will offer the recipient the ability to watch the video from within their email client. Sound will not be enabled as a choice on the deliverer's side in order to provide a better experience for the end user.

Although HTML emails aren't anything new, and can easily contain the code to an embedded video player, Goodmail's system is tuned toward the needs of larger customers who would like to bring something extra to their opt-in email campaigns. Their video platform is, by their description, very flexible in relation to which player can be used, how long the video clips are, and how the player is styled. Plus, detailed campaign statistics are available on the player, such as how many people watched the video. Similar statistics are available on the email portion of the campaign as well.

Another email video effort that has been in the works, initially geared more toward individual use, is MotionNotes by Whiteboard Labs. Their platform allows customers to compose video messages or choose YouTube videos, customized with a theme, and then send them to their friends. Although they offer a free account to individuals, they also offer a vertical Pro version that is designed with campaigns in mind.

video email marketing is growing however mass adaption of embedded video in email is a way off, video emailing is more to do with customer experience and less to do with open rates. Simply put, would a customer rather receive a video ad or a image/text driven email. Video emails are complimentary to your marketing efforts, its about getting the mix right.

Yeah, I think this is an interesting concept. ISP's will have to really be on board to make this successful. I can't wait to see what happens. I have worked with a couple free versions like springdo and tokbox. They are great free tools. However for my business I have also used CoVideo Systems.

All the versions I have tried utilized the hyperlink instead of embedding the email. That has worked great so far.

Video Email will become more prominent over the next few years. Businesses are just now starting to realize the impact videos can make in their marketing effort. Have always believed seeing and hearing the person making the news is better than a talking head announcer. With email, explaining in your own words, branding you and hitching your message to the obsession folks have for video/tv/movies means visual/audio is way way more powerful on many levels that just a series of words like this comment is. All this is is black and white copy. Video hits all the senses, penetrates deeper into a person for a lasting impression. It's like pin prick or harpoon.
