Do you have a great idea for an iPhone app but not the coding skills to actually build it? Well, there's an app for that. The AppIncubator iPhone App from MEDL Mobile lets you submit your ideas which the company's development team will then build into apps for you. Of course, as you probably imagined, they're going to take a cut of the profits. But what better way to build an iPhone app without actually having to do any work!

]]> The AppIncubator application is the first of its kind. With this app, anyone can be an iPhone "developer." After downloading and installing the app, you use its simple interface to submit your ideas to MEDL Mobile. Alternately, you can upload ideas via the company's web site. Once you receive your submission number, you can then use the storyboard tool found on the site to flesh out your thoughts even further.

After the app undergoes a series of tests and reviews which analyze the app's potential for revenue as well as its "originality, functionality, simplicity, and fun," the app will be built by the company's in-house development team. When complete, MEDL Mobile will promote and market the application for you. All you had to do was have the original idea.

Since the company is doing all the hard work of app building and promotion, it makes sense that they plan on taking a cut. However, 25 percent of the app's revenues is shared with the app's "creator" (you). Considering how little effort there was put forth on your part, that actually seems rather generous. Still, if you want to keep more than 25 percent, you can just hire the company to build the app for you instead.

25% seems obsurd but realistically if you feel the idea is viable why not get some one else to do the work. The way i see it is if you pay and submit your idea and then its sold to a third party, you have every thing you need reciept of payment and no doubt a confirmation email start a bloody law suit with out doubt you can make more of them that way

I would not risk that. There are many companies that build apps and provide strategy and cost estimates. If the idea is so good, find out a quote to get it built and then gather investment.

i got an idea if anyone wants to make it- its a game in the form of "telephone" or "operator"- where you tell someone a phrase and pass it along to friends to see how messed up it gets the further its gossiped? with this game, you would log in, and a random text message would generate and be shown to you for about 3 seconds. you have to memorize it best you can, and it gets texted randomly to another person with the app, and you wont get a text unless the program is running.

I think MEDL mobile is a scam.

MEDL Mobile is a company that asks people to share their app ideas with them, and if the app is selected they will split profits with them. I had ideas, but no money and no skill to create my own app.

I submitted an app for consideration with MEDL, and they declined it, oh well I thought, not a marketable game. I asked by email for reasons or details, yet no one took the time to answer. But then, 5 weeks after they told me that my idea was not for them. (which was not to be found anywhere since the creation of the app store) by chance, here appears on the app store a new game, with the name I gave it, the same description and game rules. I did not submit it to anyone else. I think they sold the idea to some other firm. I had my doubts to submit it but did not have any other options since I do not know programing. I will not send MEDL mobile any more app ideas as I fear they are a scam of massive proportions. I encourage anyone one else who strongly feels that MEDL mobile is not playing by their rules and passing app ideas to third parties and not splitting profits with the people who submit app ideas.
Life lesson

Sometimes you think that someone out there will actually do the right thing. I thought so too. I tought that my little idea would generate enough to help my girl’s college fund or something like that. These guys tought it would be better spent on themselves. I learned yet another lesson.

Interesting idea but it looks like its falling flat on the T&C. I've seen friends spend thousands on creating apps that never go anywhere - really have to have a plan, not just an idea. Then again I have seen, and have had, some iphone applications built for as little as $100 - It all depends on who you hire and if that developer has made an app before - best to check references as well!

This site ( http://www.lehow.com ) allows you to escrow payment and really locks the developer into completing the project & if they don't complete it, they don't get paid! I have had a few iphone and facebook apps created and I haven't' spent more than $150 bucks each - why pay more when most apps are freebies & are only intended to drive traffic to your site...

If you arent into hiring a developer this looks promising- wondering though who is the developer and who posts the app? Do you still have to sign up as a developer or do they take care of it?

I think Appswell
is a better, more transparent tool for people to see their app ideas made into reality. Instead of just being a dumb, non-transparent suggestion box, it let's all of the sites users vote on their favorite ideas to pick winners. The company also pays a cash prize up front, as well as a share of the profit, and the app looks a whole lot better.

If you have a good idea, save up and invest some money in it!

I can see major law suits popping up with this company. If the small print says they own your idea as soon as you send it in, obviously they aint looking out for you, they looking out for them selves with your help and mainly your idea.

Although it does sound like a good idea, I have to agree that you have no guarantees that they will give you anything in the end. Looking at what they've done, there isn't anything impressive about their 2 programs, one of them being this one. I think its great that someone has thought about providing something like this since there are I'm sure many people out there with some great app ideas but do not or are not willing to learn how to program. It would be nice if someone would take this the distance and come up with a way for all of this to be a fair and legal deal.

Regarding their hypothetical 25% of after break even profits go, I do think it is a pretty fair number since you are coming up with the idea and not actually the product. Sure, it sounds easy, but try giving programming a shot and you'll understand how tough it is. If someone could come up with a better way to do this I'm definitely in and will work with a legit company on presenting ideas for creating some great, useful apps for the iPhone. This is a win win situation for everyone in that you get paid for the app idea, they get paid for making it a sellable product and the end user hopefully gets a fantastic program. I don't think I'll be dealing with this particular company but look forward to someone doing it right and providing all the legal information and documents.

I downloaded this app and used it.
Their storyboard sucks, so I used my own, and submitted it.
However, I am withdrawing my idea after reading their Terms and Conditions.
There T&C's are illegal and they are headed for a major lawsuit unless they change them.
They CANNOT legally own YOUR idea just because you submit it to them. (Sony v Staff Members, 2002).
Also, if you withdraw your idea, they ascertain that they still get to keep your original idea.
Again, illegal.

Your idea is YOURS and NOT theirs!!
Also, the payout is a joke!! 25%? Purleeze!!
And even then, they don't pay out UNTIL they break even on the costs, and they don't inform you how much those costs will be.
You could be waiting a LONG time before you see any money from this fly-by-night company!

As an earlier commentor said, it is nothing but a form,
*that is it*. You are asked to provide a bunch of personal info and then type-in your application idea, rank it based on certain categories and then submit.

Only 25% - 10% to the idea originator? And what guarantee
does one get have that their idea will not be abused? None, as they are not signing a NDA with you.
