Every year at the Web 2.0 Summit Morgan Stanley analyst Mary Meeker does a fast and in-depth presentation of internet trends. The report is available here.

Once again mobile is a big trend this year, with Apple's market share expected to "Surprise on Upside Near-Term."

Overall the key message was that financial markets have rebounded now; and that technology is "relatively impressive."

Interesting perspective, Thanks for an interesting write up. Face book is a great phenomenon which allows us to give instantaneous feedback, Google is like a Pandora's box, full of all you info you need.

Wow there were a lot of new sites features here that I hadn't seen before. I checked out the huffington post... You were kidding when you said it was popular. There are hundreds of comments for every brand new post.

I wonder if Bing is going to end up changing the way we use searches? Microsoft obviously has plan, and they have the experience. This visual search sounds awesome!

Yeah, Mobile internet is definitely the next BIG thing. I use my iphone on the net every day and don't know how i ever did banking, or used facebook without it before.
Facebook. 6+ Billion minutes a day! They must be making a fortune off those side adds they implemented.

BWI, to your note... to say that Facebook will outpace Google in my opinion, respectfully, is absurd. There is absolutely no way Facebook will surpass google in any way shape or form. Facebook is not integral to our lives, Google is.

I've enjoyed Mary's firehose of data every year, but I've found that it's tough to share with others given the sheer density of information. I checked out the report. I liked seeing this in it: Facebook = Unified Communication + Multimedia Repository in Your Pocket. It's one of the reasons I believe it won't be long before Facebook out paces Google, at least here in the US. Search cannot compete with communications in my book.
