SimpleSpark is a directory of web 2.0 applications and services that launched in May. When we included them in our web 2.0 lists round up in late June, they'd just crossed the 3,000 sites indexed mark. Today, they've indexed 5,000 sites, which is an illustration of just how large the web 2.0 application universe has grown -- whatever your definition of the term.
To further illustrate how many sites that is, and to celebrate their milestone, the folks at SimpleSpark created a video showing the logos of all 5,000 companies in 333 seconds (or just over five and a half minutes). It's embedded below. Enjoy.

It certainly hurts my eyes watching this video.
Really fun video -- hard to try and spot your own work.
So many sites.....so little vowels.
Very cool video! We made it!
Thanks SimpleSpark, for the publicity. :)

The most amazing thing about this video is the fact that we can see and recognize any logos at all.
It is very interesting that the logos that I have seen before stick out at me, and even though it might take me up to 10 seconds to remember the name of a logo that ha Flashed by it sticks in my mind.
This has a BIG impact for advertising (and as was noted on an advertising blog I can't find anymore) that click throughs don't necasseraly mean more business, but people remember what they've seen and are more responsive to it.
very interesting. I just pause it for a sec to scroll on to the next. It could be some good "inspiration" for some graphic designers.
The most recognizable logo is probably Google's. How many times did it show up?
we made it!
