Across the Read/WriteWeb Network: Charity Search, Internet TV, Niche Social Networks

Here are some of the highlights from the Read/WriteWeb Network over the past few days:

AltSearchEngine's List of Charity Search Engines: Charles has compiled a very useful list of charity search engines. He concluded that while none of the search engines on the list rated a perfect 5 star rating, several were ‚Äúvery good‚Ä? - namely GoodTree, GoodSearch, CharityCafe, and EveryClick (U.K. only). Also, with just one exception (SearchGive), they all use a Major search engine to power their results, so you should get good search results.

last100's Internet streaming: five U.S. television networks compared explores how major U.S. television networks continue to embrace Internet technology and put their shows on the Web for online viewing. However - writes last100's Daniel Langendorf - their online offerings remain sporadic and their Internet strategies feel like ‚Äúwe have to‚Ä? rather than ‚Äúwe want to‚Ä?.

iFood.tv Social Network for Food Lovers - R/WW's Josh Catone checks out iFood.tv, a social network built about users sharing and discussing recipes. Though it supports text/photo recipes, the site really emphasizes videos. For example, click through to check out the video from rising star, iFood.tv member LizzieMarieCuisine.

  1. I'm personally a member of another pretty good niche social network, called ILoveToPlay.com. I got another soccer fan emailing me about joining his team and now when he organizes a game, I'm invited. I get to play more often without having to do all the organizing myself... (And no, I am not affiliated with the owners/creators of the site. I just think it's a great niche social networking site.)

  2. Great blog. I really liked it. I have also created a lens in same niche. This is my first time, hope u guys like it. Here’s a brief intro: Charity Fund Raising Can Show Philanthropy Charity fundraising can show philanthropy by having the donor involved in the decision making process of where the charity funds will be spent. In modern times, more charity organizations are trying to think more outside the box in garnering interest to contribute money. Anyone can do a bake sale, a car wash, or a church rummage sale. But how about something unique, something that has never been tried before? For more detail visit here: http://www.squidoo.com/charity-and-philanthropy/
