For the past two days, AltSearchEngines editor Charles Knight has been attending the Search Marketing Expo: Social Media conference in New York City. He's been live blogging every session from the conference and there is some really great stuff in his notes, all of which have been posted to the ASE blog. Definitely don't miss any of his excellent and all inclusive coverage:

Is anyone else trying to view these links from Mainland China and ending up with baidu's homepage while still under the www.altsearchengines.com.
If I go through a US proxy I seem to get the pages as expected. If I go directly (I'm in Beijing) I get a page not found on baidu.
Is this altsearchengines site just a front for China's Baidu?
Posted by: Andrew | October 17, 2007 4:43 PMOk, scratch that 'is altsearchengines a front' bit. Seems that they're back to their old tricks over here of hijacking dns queries and returning Baidu' homepage for sites that they want to block.
And google wonders why they can't compete in this market...
Posted by: Andrew | October 17, 2007 5:17 PMYeah, that's weird. I am not sure why that is happening, but neither R/WW nor ASE have any relationship with Baidu.
