During Internet Week NY 2009, Social Media Club co-founder, Chris Heuer, took a few minutes to chat with us about Social Media Camp, transparency, and streams.
His thoughts might surprise you. Is the firehose of social data further killing our attention spans? Are drunken Facebook party pictures necessarily a bad thing? How do n00bs help refresh the echo chamber? Spend eight minutes of your life with one of social media's friendliest thought leaders; you're guaranteed to hear something new.
Heuer's Social Media Camp is taking place today at the Roger Smith Hotel, a highly social media-friendly venue in Manhattan. They're famous in the bacon-obsessed tech scene for their daily bacon happy hours.

Chris and Jolie at their best. Love it.
Interesting comments on transparency and streams.
Transparency is such a big deal for the individual and the brand, you should not try to be something/someone you are not, because in the end it will only hurt you.
Transparency will flow into the corporate world, due to new technology that allows consumers to broadcast their findings and opinions. Corporations/brands can lo longer get away with shady going on and they cannot be silent either. Corporate philosophy needs to align with their consumers philosophy or the consumers will look elsewhere.
Streaming... Twitter works like a lucky dip right now, your gone for an hour and you miss 1000's of potentially GREAT tweets. Whenever you log on you simply get the luck of the draw. Intelligent streaming that could compile tweets for your return based on desired keywords will be a great extension of Twitter, and I am sure it will not end there!
Great to see you both here at the Roger Smith Hotel. Thanks for having such a great event here.
You comments on the stream being more like a firehose is very true at this point, so much is missed in the stream, but I guess it is where we are at. Nice discussion, good to you both discus.
Thank you a very good thing
