12,288 words. Here it is. btw I accidentally discovered an error in the very first sentence today. How embarrassing. So I fixed it up...I thought about leaving it in there, as proof that I haven't done any revisions yet. But then there are probably plenty of other bits of evidence of that!
I may take a day off tomorrow. It'll be Friday night and usually I stay away from the computer then. If I go at 2000 words per day, then that gives me 5 "days off" during November in order to reach 50,000. I'll see how I feel.

I like how things progressed in chapter 17. Do you feel like you are on track to explore the big topics you wanted to explore? And, are you getting surprised by what comes to you as you go along? The ET seems pretty cool and I like that the civilization he comes from seems so advanced. Curious about what you are doing with the Hore subscript - nice name - Hore - almost like whore. Hmmm... It must be an extraordinary level of work to somehow fit or pry into your already full life schedule. I'm glad getting 20% done feels like you are getting somewhere - that's how it feels on the reader end too. I can see this being a novel that sells. It in some way reminds me of the serialize novels written by the gay author, Amistead Maupin, Tales of the City. I wonder if he was writing every day as he went along. Of course, it was very different too. Just an association not sure what the connection is. I think a day off is reasonable. But I'll miss the next installment. And I'll live.
