Dolly Parton Says: You Should Try IE8 Webslices!
In what's got to be the most amusing celebrity tech endorsement of the season so far, Dolly Parton has gone on YouTube endorsing Microsoft's IE8. It's got this great webslices feature, you see. "You've got to have Internet Explorer 8 to use webslices," she says, "shoot, I didn't even know there was a 1 through 7."
It's an awfully charming video by one of the greatest musicians of all time. This 63-year old mega-millionaire is downright folksy when talking about web browsers.
Hey Dolly, if you like IE8 - you should let Google's Chrome sweep you off your feet! Not a lot of features, but it's super fast for a fast-thinking woman like you. Is it customization you're looking for? We know you've seen a whole lot of things all around the world - but have you seen Firefox yet?
Dolly Parton? How are you going to top that, Mozilla?

I love how she hasn't tried it yet, but she'll gladly recommend it. Mozilla's obvious response is Kenny Rogers, but he's never been one to contradict Dolly.
I don't mind her talking up IE8. At this point, I'm willing to accept whatever means are necessary to get people off IE6. If that means sticking with IE, so be it. At least I can do more with 8 (design and code-wise) than I could ever do with 6.

She is so cute! I really think that Microsoft has stepped it up with the advertising and marketing this year. I really loved the Windows 7 commercials with the little girl. They are awesome.
This has got to be the strangest endorsement ever, where is the link from country music to backwards non standards browser!

The ad itself is kind of a 'whatever' for me. Cute? I guess it 'could' be, based on your definition. But in the original post here ... "by one of the greatest musicians of all time" really caught my eye.
