Facebook Rolls Out Security Changes, Including Ability to Generate Temporary Passwords
Facebook has launched two security features today, aimed at protecting the accounts of those of us who access Facebook from public computers.
The first feature is a one-time password. To use this feature, you have to have a mobile phone number associated with your account. Then, if you want to generate a temporary password, text "otp" to 32665. And in return, Facebook will text you a password that can only be used once and that will expire in 20 minutes.
The second feature is the ability to sign out of Facebook remotely. This can be useful if you've accessed Facebook from a computer that isn't your own, but then forget to sign out. From within your Account Settings, you'll be able to see all your active sessions, and so if you're still logged in via other devices, you'll be able to log out. This also means that if someone else accesses your account without your permission, you'll be able to shut down that login (and reset your password).
Facebook say these features will be rolled out gradually, but should be available to everyone in the next few weeks.
