News just broke that Google has hired Joshua Schachter, the founder of social bookmarking service Delicious. Schachter left Yahoo! six months ago, two and a half years after it acquired his groundbreaking app. We're excited to see what he does at Google.
Schachter was working on some sort of secret project and worked with Upcoming.org co-founder Andy Baio, also rich and free years after a Yahoo! acquisition of his site, on one of the coolest Greasemonkey scripts we've ever seen.

This does not surprise me at all as Google has always been know for scooping up good talent. They are a company that realizes intelligence is the future. I wish the company I worked for felt the same way!

Wow. It's really a small world, when it comes to the technology industry isn't it? It will be interesting to see what he brings to the table at Google. I'll be keeping my eye on this one.

Google is always looking to advance in technology to provide the best for it's users. No surprise. That's why they're the number one search engine. It will be interesting to see what becomes of this.

absolutely is ... Delicious gets a bit of heat now mainly because Yahoo didn't change it enough in update but that's because Joshua did such a great job setting it up. Who implemented tagging properly before Delicious did? Cannot wait to see the fit - go Joshua!

Do they not teach people to write proper English at Read Write Web?
I love del.icio.us. I hope he has some good ideas that will help out Google. Because I love Google as well.
Wow... Google getting another top dog! Nice! Google is so smart and will keep getting larger because they keep doing the right things and hiring the right people.
much needed atGoogle, good move.
I love my Google Bookmarks. With the excellent Firefox extension GMarks, it works well for me. I'd love to see it made more robust with tagging, nesting, and perhaps incorporating recommendations in a non-invasive way.
Perhaps Schachter's arrival will speed up the development of some of these things?
Google People are smart..Nice step taken by them.
