PNMElogo.jpgThe third annual Podcast and New Media Expo, formerly known as the Portable Media Expo, started today in Ontario, California and runs through the weekend. The event has become a favorite of podcasters and video creators from all over the world.

Keynote speakers at the conference this year include serial investor Howard Lindzon, investor in the CBS acquired video blog Wallstrip, Jim Louderback, CEO of Kevin Rose-affiliated Revision3 and Kent Nichols and Douglas Sarine of Ask A Ninja.

Podcasting News reports that you can keep an eye and an ear on the action at the Expo this year in a number of ways, including an official Twitter feed and audio interviews both live and rebroadcast from the surprisingly successful startup BlogTalkRadio (see our review of the service last month). Live BlogTalkRadio coverage will be provided by About.com Guide to Podcasting John C. Havens and will will start tonight at 5:30 PST (12:30 AM GMT). Coverage kicks off with an interview with Paolo Tosolini of Microsoft on the value of corporate podcasting and new media production. The whole event schedule is here.

Technologies like podcasting, easy live broadcasting and Twitter have changed the conference experience forever; a conference full of specialists in the use of these technologies should be particularly interesting to watch from outside.

  • I've put together a handy dandy page with all the official and unofficial video and audio feeds I can find here: http://rizzn.com/pnme2007

  • Jim Louderback is a great speaker - if you have the chance to go see him. From his days at TechTV to ZiffDavis, definitely a good keynote.

  • We're looking for 5 Great Ideas from those who are attending the Podcasting Expo. Unfortunately, we are not.

    Our request is:
"What the best idea you heard at the New Media Expo that would help a business person who is currently not podcasting - to help them quickly jump in?"

    We’ll also add this request:
"Please, no philosophical meanderings, advanced technological hoo-haw or sales pitches - just great ideas that will get someone up and running as a podcaster quickly and with minimum of heartache and brain damage."

We think that’s cheeky enough. After all, about 99.9% of us average business people still don’t do any podcasting (that we know of) and we’re still, well, just a little bit confused by the technological challenges and the potential benefits.

You can leave a comment on our blog article - http://goldencompass.com/blog/you-have-a-friend-in-the-podcast-business/#more-119

  • Howard Lindzon did not create Wallstrip, he was a minor investor who just likes taking all the credit.
