Earlier this month we noted that Barack Obama's Presidential transition site Change.gov had added OpenID login for commenters and that the site had traded the traditional copyright for the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license. Last week, the iPhone app for Change.gov was added to Apple's Web apps page, thanks to the Creative Commons license.
According to Christopher Carfi, co-founder of Cerado, the company behind the creation of the widgets, the fact that Change.gov is now iPhone, mobile and widget-enabled is largely due to Change.gov opening up its content with the Creative Commons license.

In addition to the iPhone app, using their Ventana service, Cerado created a widget version of Change.gov that includes a news and agenda feed, links to the team, as well as links to Obama inspired books on Amazon. You can download it here.

This article at first had me really confused. So... it's not that Change.gov has made an iPhone (Web) app or a widget. Someone made it for them? Thats cool but much less sexy then if Change.gov actually did it themselves. All this company did is repurpose the RSS feed.
Agreed that this article was confusing / misleading. It's not an iPhone app, btw. It's an iPhone web app. Definitely not the same.
Justin and Ken, the article was not misleading. The headline doesn't say that Change.org made the app.
And Ken, the Apple site itself calls this an "iPhone app". Ref:
"Change.gov, the website of the Obama administrationâs transition team, is now available as an iPhone app. "
So, I'm not sure what is "misleading" about this post :-)
thanks..
Uh, not sure about the misleading claims, but I will say, that I immediately got all Obama fanboyish and picked up my iPhone to search/download while this article loaded. Couldn't find it, read through, and was disappointed it wasn't an official Change.gov app but the RSS feed thing.
My .02 Recommendation: "Unofficial" Change.gov iPhone App Now Available is much clearer.
Since I see not one telephone number in this page , Is this an advertisment for i Phones, for the internet, or another deception by a slick marketeer ??????
Huh. That's cool. I'll have to check it out.
Allen, you're a moron. A phone number? Welcome to the Internet, Padawan.

The headline, though, is "Change.gov iPhone App Now Available" which is not actually true, is it? Just because someone else said it was true doesn't mean its ok to reprint wrong information, does it? That's when you find a better source, like the actual widget to write about or the fact that you can't get it in the apple store.
HOW COULD THE TRANSITION TEAM SELECT RICK WARREN TO GIVE HTE INAUGURATION PRAYER. HE IS A NARROW MINDED, INDEPENDENT, MEGA CHURCH PASTOR OPPOSED TO A WOMAN'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE AND GAYS IN GENERAL. THIS DOES NOT AUGER WELL FOR BRINGING THE COUNTRY AND WORLD TOGETHER.
