Online Music Poll Update: last.fm Edges Ahead of Pandora

Written by Richard MacManus / August 16, 2007 1:01 PM / 5 Comments

Our poll this week asks: What is your favorite online music streaming service? So far, last.fm and Pandora have been engaged in an epic struggle - both have led the poll at various times during the week. As of now, last.fm has gone back into the lead. Here's the top 5 so far:

last.fm 32% (207 votes)
Pandora 30% (197 votes)
Yahoo Music 9% (61 votes)
iTunes Music Service 8% (52 votes)
Rhapsody 4% (27 votes)

Note that FineTune and Live365 were added late to the poll, but both have more votes currently than AOL, MSN and Zune. There's still time to cast your vote though, so please do so in the poll below:

  1. Soundpedia!!!

The ability to listen to entire albums and create playlists from them, is something the others won't/don't do, sooo...

  2. LaunchCast is far and away my favorite - any reason it was omitted?

  3. It's really not an apples to apples comparison, because although Pandora and Last.fm might stream customized radio stations based on your listening history, they don't provide a service like Yahoo and Napster, where you can play any song at any time from their extensive music libraries.

  4. I think people are ignoring the international dimension here. Pandora has been blocking people like me (in the Netherlands) for months now, so obviously I won't vote for it. Last.fm, on the other hand, until shortly a British service is just perfect and globally minded. Long live global business-models!

  5. Pandora would win by far if it wasnt for the international block
