Due to demand in the comments, 3 new IM clients have been added to the poll. You can now vote for Pidgin, Miranda, and Apple's iChat. Apologies for omissions! Our poll this week focuses on IM clients. This weekend Corvida wrote that interoperability between popular IM clients is happening, albeit slowly.
One thing that Corvida mentioned got me wondering: "Digsby is poised to take a serious amount from the market share of the standard clients because of its interoperability not only with IM clients, but also because of the integrated social networks and even email." With that in mind, let us know which IM clients you currently use in the poll below.
UPDATE: Due to demand in the comments, Pidgin and Miranda have been added. At time of adding, 3651 votes had been cast. Apologies to fans of those two IM clients for the omission.
UPDATE 2: Also added iChat (3983 votes cast).

Mac OSX's iChat is missing.
Smile! Gerrit

What about http://www.pidgin.im/??? Why isnt in in the poll list. I thought it was one of the most popular IM aggregator, and it is totally open source (GPL3).
Pidgin can work with:
* AIM
* Bonjour
* Gadu-Gadu
* Google Talk
* Groupwise
* ICQ
* IRC
* MSN
* MySpaceIM
* QQ
* SILC
* SIMPLE
* Sametime
* XMPP
* Yahoo!
* Zephyr
Pidgin is free software. It is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2. This means you are free to use it and to modify it, but if you distribute your modifications you must distribute the modified source code as well.
I use Gaim/Pidgin, quite a few people I know use this - though perhaps not as popular as I think outside Linux users.
You left out both the clients I use most of the time- iChat (for AIM and gtalk via XMPP) and the built-in AIM on my Sidekick. That the new iPhone still doesn't have an iChat port is the reason I haven't got one yet.

I use Digsby on all my Windows Computers, also skype. On my iMac I use Aduim :D
+1 on Pidgin
Gajim http://www.gajim.org/
emesene http://www.emesene.org/
Pidgin is an important choice, I think. It's probably the number one IM client on Linux, and would be a much-used client on Windows, too, if it wouldn't be so ugly. :)
Btw: Why aren't there more simple but pretty clients for Windows? Trillian looks good, but it does too much, Yahoo! has a pretty messenger for Windows Vista, but not for XP, and it's not multi-protocol.
I don't like Digsby, either.
Why, just why?
Pidgin
(and Gmail's built-in chat)
My other was Psi, a Windows based Jabber client.
Miranda of course.
Miranda: http://www.miranda-im.org/download/ (Like Trillian, plus IRC)
Pidgin == same software for Linux and Windows
Pidgin ;)
Pidgin and Lotus Sametime
I use Pidgin.
No Linux client?
I use kopete.
Pidgin on Linux and on Windows.
Also pidgin-otr is great encryption plugin.
I use Pidgin.

I use pidgin (on ubuntu linux)
Other: Psi on Windows, Pidgin on Linux, and SameTime at work.
Miranda.
Apple iChat for Leopard!
Client:
Pidgin++
Protocols Used:
MSN
AIM
Yahoo
Gtalk (really just XMPP)
XMPP
ICQ
IRC
I use iChat for Gtalk, AIM, and our corporate (jabber) server primarily for its excellent video chat capabilities.
Sametime, Pidgin, Skype, all cross platform, WinXP & Ubuntu
Miranda of course
I'm currently using Orgoo (apart from the other apps I voted for) for MSN Messenger, ICQ and GTalk.
I've found I'm spending more time with micro-blogging services like Twitter and Plurk than instant messaging services.
Miranda. Too bad it isn't listed.
Well, You can use Pidgin on other OS's than Linux.
Solaris/Opensolaris is one of them.
Otherwise Gtalk is nice.
I use Meebo, browser based.
Pidgin!
I actually use several because of features of each. Yahoo! lets my do video with multiple people at once, which is great for distributed families.
Skype is needed because some of my work associates are only online with Skype.
I used to use Trillian, and I love their UI, but the app kept grabbing 100% of my CPU and holding if for longer and longer periods. That's not workable and is highly frustrating. I think it was related to people with whom I chatted a lot having huge chat history files. Anyway, that's what made me switch to Pidgin.
Pidgin has it's own problem. It shuts down abruptly from time to time.
I await the "Grand Unification Client."
The other messengers that I use are Novell and SameTime. Both of these applications I run at my different jobs however. Where I am from, Milwaukee area, AIM is the popular client. Even if I venture out twenty minutes MSN starts to become the norm. I still don't know why we use AIM around here. It probably has something to do with the good ol' AOL days in the city.
Digsby is where it's at!
http://imo.im is the messenger of my choice
I use digsby as I like its compatibility with email (gmail), and social networks (twitter and facebook) It keeps me from wasting time logging into such sites. I currently use AIM, MSN, and Facebook Chat for the friends who dont have the first two.
Seriously, do add Pidgin....
With Psi, Miranda and Pidgin missing you have to wonder about the author's XMPP awareness...
Pidgin - it's a multi-client IM service for Linux.
I use Digsby and Pidgin (which should really be listed). I would use Digsby solely, but it uses more resources.
ı'm very newly.Frankly.At the moment I have no much comments but I can express that İt is very operative in use. That are my instant comments. Thanks.
I use Digsby : http://digsby.com/ , it rocks! Befor that I used Pidgin : http://pidgin.im/ :)
i have started using digsby quite recently. It is quite useful. But both yahoo and social networking my space are not getting connected and are always showing error in connecting. i hope you would set right the bug. Ramachandran
Ok for everyone that said their fav clients were no on the poll, I'm sure as long as your fav clients, add protocols for Facebook and do a facelift mabey it can compete, but Uglt interfaces, and lacking protocols. Just cant Compete right now, were in the GUI Age.
The only people that dont like Disgby are those that want a fast streamline simple chat interface. But the winner is the one that has full functionality ie Digsby, its apparent from the polls that these folks are doing it right and are producing the superior IM client all around.
So if YOUR fav IM isn't listed, perhaps comment on their development page and ask them to facelift. Digsby caters to everyone, and does it very well.

I use Coccinella: http://coccinella.im/
iChat
I use Digsby as my #1 mail client on the PC, but on my mobile it's TinyTwitter as I've found IM just doesn't work for me there. But Digsby rocks
The two best free IM clients are missing:
Pidgin and Miranda IM
Both of which are probably better than anything you've got up there.
This poll is a missed opportunity, unfortunately.
