A red colored iPhone has been on the rumor mill for some time, but today French blogger Steve Hemmerstoffer sent us some photos of one. He told us via email that the source was anonymous. We've heard already this year about a pink iPhone hitting eBay, which Engadget thinks was the result of "some OEM in Asia whipping up custom colors." We're a little skeptical too of these red iphone photos, but with Macworld nearly upon us...who knows? And it would make sense for Apple to release a red iPhone for the Product (RED) campaign.

Have Apple ever announced something as dull (excuse the pun) as a new colour exclusively?

This is a fake, as pointed out by one of my Twitter followers. The font used in iPhone is not the same as the real ones.

This is news how? Com'mon RWW.
Also, whats up with the popups?

Wouldn't it be great if Apple rumours just appeared on Apple rumours sites? I blame the credit crunch.

Yeah, I do like the Red IPhone, have to admit it. It appeals to me the same way a Red Sports Car does.

Ray, lol. Nice one. Honestly I wasn't sure if I should post it, but hey it's a (US) Sunday and you never know with stuff like this. Damian's point about the font though does make me wonder about the photos.
Steve Jobs personal Assistant -- what pop-ups?? afaik we don't have any of those, but let me know if I'm wrong!
Finaly after some research the answer "could" be on eBay : http://tinyurl.com/7v7znq

Fake. Font used in the iPhone text is not authentic, and in the big picture of the red iPhone 3G, the Apple logo looks kinda strange.

Come on guys, can we please get over the iPhone hype? An article about a COLOR for crying out loud. Please get back to the usual high quality reporting.

Why can't iPhone be red? A red apple is better than a black apple.

tried to make a popup open for me too.

Damien in #2 nailed it. On all of the above, the typefaces used on these phones appear to be lame old Arial; Apple uses a corporate version of Myriad for branding on the devices.
Engadget could be right — a company in East Asia could be making replacement housings for iPhone; that happens a lot with other phones.

For real? Crappy news like this (if you can call it that) is better left for digg.

I got a popup blocker too (Firefox).

It's very interesting, I like it !

Maybe I am out of the loop on this kind of stuff, but why dont they just put the phone out in more colors? Seems pretty easy to do.

I don't think this is going to happen. Even though they have done product red with the Ipod i don't think that this is really going to happen yet.....

This post was totally ripped from Engadget, where it appeared about a week ago.
You can buy red/pink/blue/yellow etc etc covers on ebay for about 10 bucks.......

Hey there - I live in Hong Kong, and I'm fairly sure that these are Chinese-made snap on cases. I have a black one, and no one realises that my phone has a cover on it, they are that realistic. The small electronics shops in town sell them for about US$10 each in loads of colours (including red).

Check http://www.oursignal.com every day. You would have seen a post there that showed all the Chinese iPhone knock offs. Red was the tamest color I saw in that article.
Ya might want to do some more research. FTW!

It also seems to be missing the (PRODUCT) RED logo that's on the back of both the iPod Nano and Shuffle. Seems fake to me.
