Introducing The Semantic Web Gang

Written by Richard MacManus / March 25, 2008 3:18 PM / 5 Comments

We're pleased to announce a new monthly feature on ReadWriteTalk, ReadWriteWeb's podcast show. There's a new podcast gang in town and it's called The Semantic Web Gang. The group is led by Paul Miller of Talis and includes our own Alex Iskold. Indeed we just published a monster post about Semantic Web Patterns, written by Alex, which makes a nice complement to the show! ReadWriteTalk will be syndicating every episode of The Semantic Web Gang.

  2. Is it really comprised of all men? How disappointing and narrow-cast... I can think of at least three women off the top of my head who would make killer additions to this group.

yes, the participants in this first show were all male. I am actively seeking to grow that pool of contributors, though, and would welcome suggestions from you and anyone else.

  4. I think you did a good job laying out the issues we struggle with as producers of semantic goods.

The point Mills Davis brought up about how much the government spends, and how important semantic web standards can be for government IT, was glossed over. It should not be overlooked as fertile ground for developers looking for reasons to get involved.

I also thought the contribution of Thomas Tague was noteworthy. The important part is to make it easy for 'that faction' of the crowd with the imagination to create something compelling and valuable, to do so.

    I'll stay tuned for more.
