As part of our lead-up to The ReadWrite Real-Time Web Summit, which is just over two weeks away, in this post we're listing 50 leading companies of the Real-Time Web. A reminder that the ReadWrite Real-Time Web Summit is happening 15th October in Mountain View, California. Many of the ReadWriteWeb team will be there, so we look forward to meeting and talking with you all! You can register here for the low price of $195.

Yahoo Meme?
Tweetmeme.com
Misses Live Talkback - but then we are real time mobile and real time web.
Richard, our realtime Search Engine Tweefind.com should be under your radar :-)
it provides results ordered by a score that measures the "engagement" of users. Highest ranked users' tweets are shown first.

Tweefind also provides a Wordpress plugin / Anyblog Widget to show related and relevant tweets to your blog posts.

Jason Kintzler built a Social Media Release platform without VC funding and built it, through social media, to 10,000 users in less than a year.
Is the Real Time Web only about real time social stuff? I would expect more emphasis on web application integration by the propagation of real business events (almost all of the companies above are focusing on blogs and microblogs). Or is that really a next phase?
Our sentiment based search engine uses realtime data:

Yahoo! Meme is not included in the list?
Thanks for the mention!

What is yahoo! meme?
Great list, but I think a bunch of URLs are missing.
How do you define realtime web ?
Marco

Please add:
1. Friendfeed.com
2. Building43.com
Thanks!
@SusanBeebe

I really like:
1. TwitterFeed
2. TweetSurge
3. Networkedblogs

What about Posterous?
These are really good applications. Wonderful!
Great lists, it's nice to know that there are already tons of real time search options to choose from.. Thanks RWW.
Technorati & Blogcatalog

FYI, Textpattern has plugins now that supports Pubsubhubbub & RSSCloud
Eelco # 6, I agree, we need more biz oriented real time web apps. I posted my theory on where the killer biz app will be:
http://www.readwriteweb.com/enterprise/2009/09/trading-scarcity-killer-app-for-real-time-web.php
Although we have some of the message bus players, we are keen to find the new ventures that are more at the application layer.
Another great startup is CrowdLens, a web based twitter client. Think Google Reader meets twitter. Automatic read-tracking, keyboard shortcuts, inline previews, and oldest unread tweet first.
I really like HootSuite for live Twitter stats on my account.
http://www.kampyle.com Feedback Analytics on your website in real time
You missed a whole category there, real time analytics which Woopra rules :)
what "top"? Looks like a list of companies put together by someone. For example, peoplebrowsr is a complete mess with an impossible to use UI. Some obvious ones like mrtweet and hootsuite is missing, and there is no justification about why they are there.
How about Moreover Technologies - the granddaddy of the Real-time Web!
j.mp in stead of bit.ly (its theirs)
Thanks for including Scout Labs, Richard, and see you in 2 weeks at the Summit.
Techrigy SM2 offers real time alerts for social media monitoring.
We have a professional version and a Freemium.

A great new company you may want to consider including is ClientShow (www.clientshow.com). They have a real-time data application developed for creative agencies and their clients to better interact with each other when collaborating on design, marketing and advertising projects.
I think www.buzzfeed.com should be on this list too.
Thank you for including us on this esteemed list! There is a lot of exciting potential and opportunity in this space.

At Spiral16, our web-based monitoring dashboard Spark offers real-time social media monitoring and 3D virtualization. Check it out--I think it should be on your list!
thanks,

@Spiral16
Socialmention.com is great as well. It's a lot like Collecta, but with different tabs for blog/microblog/bookmarks etc.
How about www.sagoon.com-updating real-time information
Yammer.com?
Hi,
Don't forget Gelato (real-time search meets online dating).
Here's the RWW story from last week:
Gelato: The Friendfeed of Dating.
www.Blogtronix.com and our new microsocial www.blurt.it
Thanks for including Lexalytics, Richard. Looking forward to the Real-Time Web Report and Summit!
Great collection. My favorites are http://www.bit.ly and http://www.boilingpage.com. Especially BoilingPage since it has lot more verticals than any other players and my favorite in BoilingPage is http://music.boilingpage.com ..
Good stuff - I really like Jive and can't live without Tweetdeck.
Another couple to consider:
SlideRocket (www.sliderocket.com - also, a client of mine) is a great online presentation application, offering far more features than are available in other web-based presentation apps, including asset management, collaboration and analytics. It's very cool and I haven't come across another app quite like it.
Box.net is another service I've been using quite a bit lately. Store docs online and invite folks to view them, you know when someone has downloaded the document/clicked on a link. No files ever bounce from being too large for email, etc.
+ Tweetag (http://tweetag.com)
A filtering and publishing platform to publish tweets on online media websites
(btw, we just moved to SF)
Not so sure about cliqset. Has anyone checked this site out. A while ago, one minute it was there then, "poof" it was gone. Now it's back and asking for the info I gave once before.
Yahoo sign in provided a warning about the site. Something on the line " yahoo doesn't consider their address a valid web address"
Know anything about this?
Just wondering.
I find www.tweetfeel.com amazing with real-time sentiment.
Praized Media (my company) offers real-time search for local/social.
You can see a prototype "city hub" at http://calgary.com and learn more about our enterprise platform on our site (white label technologie for directory publishers or media companies).
Hi Richard,
YourVersion (www.yourversion.com) is a real-time discovery engine that should be on your list. YourVersion just launched at TechCrunch50 and won the People's Choice Award.
YourVersion continuously discovers new, relevant content tailored to a user's interests and makes it easy to bookmark and share that content. In addition to our website, we also have an iPhone app and optional Firefox toolbar.
I spoke with Marshall Kirkpatrick the other day and he just mentioned us in his RWW post this morning.
We will be at the RWW Real-Time Web Summit and look forward to participating in the discussion!
Cheers,
Dan Olsen
