Joshua Porter has written a nice balanced introduction to Web 2.0 on Squidoo.
Meanwhile I'm having a running battle with some idiots on the Wikipedia Web 2.0 page. One or more of these clowns keeps deleting any and all references to my websites and articles. Now I know what Dave Winer feels like when he criticizes Wikipedia. It's a great resource, but just like anything - a few idiots always end up ruining it for the rest of us.

Apparently, the breaking point for any community is when it attains self-awareness.
A "Web 2.0" entry in Wikipedia is kind of silly in the first place. Eventually, the "idiots" will tire and Wiki will survive in its mostly present form. BFD.
You're probably right pwb, it is all a bit silly. I feel like an idiot for getting grumpy about it.
Wikipedia has a policy against "self-promotion". I'm sure your edits are in good faith, but it might be wise to back off for a bit. If you want to contribute to the article, list your sources. Let other editors choose whether or not to use stuff you've written as a source.
I see your point L33tminion. The thing that annoyed me is that my stuff was on that page from the very beginning, yet one or more people keeps deleting it... and leaving other blog stuff on there. Is that fair? No it isn't. However I'm going to try avoid visiting that Wikipedia page again and I'm not going to cite it as an authoritative source any more.
May just be me being a sour puss, but hey...
Please don't mix in politics, especially when you know nothing about what is really happening over there.
Sorry, but wikipedia isn't meant to be a marketing platform. Why don't you try to put your links in Encyclopædia Britannica as well?
Oh great, now I get the idiots from the FlockSucks hate blog over here....
The self-promotion aspect needs to be heavily policed just because everyone wants to play up their influence for the "history books", ie. Adam Curry et al.
see comment 5 - it's not about self-promotion.
I love wikipedia, even when it's wrong.
Check out this joint wikipedia/google search thingy
I made for a home page.
