Video Coverage of Web 2.0 Summit

Written by Richard MacManus / November 5, 2008 11:47 PM / 4 Comments

Thanks to our partners at TechWeb, co-hosts of the Web 2.0 Summit along with O'Reilly Media, ReadWriteWeb is pleased to present ongoing video coverage of the event. You can select sessions in the widget below, as they are released on video to ReadWriteWeb over the next couple of days. We will also be highlighting some of the sessions in separate posts. The first day of Web 2.0 Summit featured an interview with John Doerr of the famous VC firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (which invested in Amazon, Google and many other success stories).

Later in the interview, Doerr had 12 tips for entrepreneurs to cope with the current economy, which are well worth noting down...

  1. Speaking of web 2.0, there is a new era in Polish web 2.0 services.
After clones of schoolbank and digg clones, an original and rapidly growing community of

    the 12-th Floor ( 12 Piętro )

appeared a couple of months ago. Apart from lots of youth, as always, the unorthodox and uncanny service seems to draw the attention of adults, middle-aged people, and even seniors ! It is truly universal (just like schoolbank, but not as context limited).

  3. We are pre-launch at a start-up and I really enjoyed John Doerr's tips. I summarized them in a post if you want the Cliff Notes: http://flywheelblog.com/2008/11/start-up-advice-from-john-doerr/ I just wish he would have added one final one: Don't go to conferences; save on travel and watch the videos of the conference online :-)

  4. Good to hear that the "Wisdom of the Language" ( http://gaggle.info/miscellaneous/articles/wisdom-of-the-language ) is working so well with Facebook's systems (e.g. Twitter, Causes, etc.).

I plan to blog about this later today at http://Gaggle.INFO
