Yoko Ono: Beatles' Catalogue on iTunes Tomorrow

Written by Dana Oshiro / September 8, 2009 2:57 PM / 6 Comments

beatles_yoko_sep09.jpgPaul McCartney's whooping encouragement, Lennon's calm breaths and Harrison's pensive plucking - if you're a Fab Four fan, you already know that tomorrow marks the official launch of the Beatle's remastered catalogue. But to further fan the flames of excitement, Yoko Ono spilled the beans that the discography will also finally appear in the iTunes store. According to 9 to 5 Mac, Ono told Sky News that the entire Beatles back catalogue will be available for download in conjunction with tomorrow's Apple event. While the post has since been removed, Twitter has been a aflutter with rumors. The long awaited event will also happen with the release of The Beatles: Rockband.

beatles_remastered_aug09.jpgWhile diehard fans have been anticipating tomorow's digitally remastered Beatles catalogue since April, the iTunes rumor comes as a surprise. The Beatles catalogue has been mired in legal issues and label negotiations have always kept the catalogue off of web services like iTunes and Amazon.

In an interview with the Guardian, George Harrison's son Dhani even suggested that rights owners create their own Beatles-specific independent music store to sell the remastered versions. If Yoko is right about the catalogue making it to iTunes, it will be interesting to see the pricing negotiated on this epic release.

  1. Who are The Beatles (Beat less?)
The current music world is ruled by people who create hype and sensation (out of nothing) Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Rihanna, ...
Who will notice The Beatles as they are Beating Less the media: they are not covered by Perez Hilton.

Most Beatles fans or ex-fans are over 55 and probably not using an iPod or iPhone.

  5. Did Beatles killed Michael Jackson for their catalog? Are Beatles young or old? Are they singers? When did they became popular? How come I don't heard any of their songs? Who were in it? Where they come from? Are they Americans? are they from Japan? Are Beatles Japanese singers? How old are they now? Do they dance too like Michael Jackson? I'm sorry I don't know about Beatles . I only know Beetles , the one who destroyed the pine trees.

  6. So Yoko just made all those "insiders close to the source" Apple Insider and TUAW quoted earlier look like a bunch of asshats.Looks like the Ol' girl's still got it. And by "it" I of course mean the power to crush all those who defy or contradict her. She's like the Palpatine to Hilary Clinton's Darth Vader.
