Today, Lithium Technologies, a major provider of enterprise community platforms, announced their acquisition of Keibi Technologies, developer of automated content discovery, analysis, and moderation for online communities. While Keibi may not be a particularly large addition to Lithium, the melding of the two is something of a match made in heaven.
When trying to develop healthy communities, such as the official Barnes & Noble book clubs or SalesForce developer community it built, Lithium should find Keibi's tools for wrangling user generated content useful indeed.
The foremost use of Keibi's technology to date is in AOL-owned Bebo. Since being founded in 2006, it received $5 million in series A funding from Hunt Ventures and Catamount Ventures. Lithium is considerably older, with its own blog and forum-centric offering having been in the market since 1999.
