Salesforce.com To Have A Native Palm Pre App By Year's End

Written by Steven Walling / June 8, 2009 7:00 PM / 1 Comments

salesforce_logo09.jpgOm Malik reports that Salesforce.com, the San Francisco-based provider of a SaaS CRM and the Force.com platform, will have a native Palm Pre app of its very own. The news comes from a conversation between Malik and CEO Marc Benioff earlier today.

The Pre app in the works for later this year will be offered alongside the Salesforce.com native applications for iPhone and BlackBerry that already exist.

Despite the sparse pickings when it comes to apps currently available, Sprint says the Pre has been selling out at a ridiculously fast pace. The quick move to take the mobile version of their products on to the device is the kind of hallmark that made us name them one of the top ten enterprise products last year.

  1. It's a little strange that Salesforce is moving to a native app model just when clients are getting thinner and thinner. I would have thought the whole point of SAS, and "utility computing," which Salesforce are supposed to be pioneers of, meant that the server would take on more and more of the heavy lifting - especially when you have a really thin client!
