We ran two stories earlier today on the state of Java and its complex partner ecosystem. We looked at a report from Forrester analysts John R. Rymer and Jeffrey S. Hammond. Last year, Forrester analyst Mike Gualtieri put it more bluntly in a blog post: Java Is A Dead-End For Enterprise App Development.

But considering that last week we ran a post called "COBOL's Not Dead," there's still clearly a potential for a long and healthy life for Java. The report Rymer and Hammond specifically write that their report is not an obituary. There's also the chance Oracle will get its act together and keep Java relevant for a long time to come.
