What I Learned From Our 2WAY Summit, Part 2

By David Strom / June 15, 2011 10:00 PM / Comments

This is the second half of my thoughts about what enterprise IT folks need to takeaway from attending and speaking at our 2WAY conference this past week. You can find part 1 here.

I'll cover some of the breakout sessions on the second day as well as additional thoughts gleaned from the keynote presentations.

Pushing the Boundaries of the Real-Time Web

By David Strom / June 9, 2011 04:34 AM / Comments

When Tim Berners-Lee first invented the Web back in 1989, he was more concerned about hyperlinks than hypermedia. Those of us old-timers remember that for those early years, the Web was 100% text, with the most exciting thing on the page being those underlined links in blue. It wasn't until several years later that the first graphics were introduced, and since then we have continued to demand more from our websites, with audio and video content and real-time interactions now more the norm than the exception.

TokBox & EtherPad: Video Chat Gets Real-Time Document Editing

By Steven Walling / August 27, 2009 05:00 AM / Comments

TokBox is one of the most fully-featured video chat platforms available. Like TinyChat, ooVoo, and other services, it has a close connection with social networks and other forms of sharing content. But it didn't have the kind of document-handling capabilities that could make it useful for more than just talking with friends and family or holding meetings. Now that's changed, because by integrating with EtherPad, you can now collaborate on documents in real time right within a TokBox group chat. Soon you'll also be able to add TokBox video chats to your private company EtherPads as well.
