In March of 2008, popular file hosting and sharing service Drop.io was funded for $2.7 million dollars.
Last week they put some of that money to good use, hiring Chris Ricca. Chris will be doing front end design and engineering at Drop.io's Brooklyn, New York headquarters.
Drop.io is a file hosting and sharing system that is designed to be simple and private. Users of this service create online sharing points called "drops" that are used for uploading documents, images, video, audio, and other digital content. This is all done without any accounts, email addresses or registration.
At post time not much is known about Ricca's employment history, but part of his Twitter bio says he "builds useful things". Hmmm. Like websites perhaps? Word on the street is that Drop.io is buying up .io domain names for some very serious projects.
