Community Manager Kellie Parker announced it herself in an October 23rd Twitter update; "I am the new Community Manager for SEGA! Verbal offer received, email offer tomorrow, hard copy Sat, start work on Monday! *phew*". Kellie will no doubt be missed by her co-workers at PCWorld.com and Macworld, where she was a beloved Community Manager.
In a reply to well-wishers in the PCWorld.com Forums page, Kellie describes her new role at Sega; "My job is going to be a lot like it was at PC World... setting up/revitalizing community, working on web projects, etc. I'm really excited about it. I'm not a huge gamer, so I think I have a lot to learn. I guess my Wii will be working overtime".
A number of large companies, and even some smaller ones, are hiring Community Managers. According to Marshall Kirkpatrick, a Community Manager is "...someone who communicates with a company's users/customers, development team and executives and other stake holders in order to clarify and amplify the work of all parties".
