We're excited to raise the curtain today on a new project for ReadWriteWeb, a spin-off channel we're calling the Jobwire. This new blog is dedicated to covering news about new jobs that people have been hired for in tech, new media and related industries. At a time of global economic downturn we all know there's plenty of bad news right now. Other tech news sites are doing a great job covering those stories - on the Jobwire we're going to cover good news, people getting new jobs.
We're not doing this because of the wave of layoffs, we've been working on it for months, but we do hope that the Jobwire will be helpful in troubled economic times.
We started working on Jobwire because we think peoples' jobs are really interesting, we like hearing about them. For months we've been tracking job changes in tech as a way to hunt for news for the primary ReadWriteWeb site, but most personnel changes didn't really fit with that site's theme. Thus we decided to make job news its own site.
The new Jobwire site will offer probably 10 to 20 short posts per day about people who have new jobs. One of those new hires will be featured as the Hire of the Day and we or a guest editor (see below) will offer some context as to why we think it's so important.
We hope that a wide range of people will find the Jobwire of interest: companies interested in tracking their competitors, job seekers looking for inspiration or positions left open by moves, recruiters, marketers and a wide range of other business readers. Students wondering what kind of jobs are being filled in the new tech and media markets. People who, like us, just find new jobs interesting! We hope a a lot of different will find and like the site for their own reasons.
The internet is changing, it's no longer a system of passive consumption by viewers - it's now a "Read-Write" phenomenon where the line between content producers and consumers is blurred. With that change comes a whole lot of changes in the industries that support and serve this new Read-Write web. That's the context we see this happening in.
If you have a new job, have hired someone or would like otherwise to send us tips, please email the info to jobwire@readwriteweb.com. Interested in advertising on the new RWW Jobwire? Send an inquiry to jobwiresales@readwriteweb.com for advertising info.

When I (Marshall Kirkpatrick) came on board full time at VP of Content Development at RWW, we decided to make a site dedicated to tracking new jobs as my first major public-facing project. I've been joined by a fantastic crew of researchers and writers that's quickly grown into a tight-knit late-night powerhouse of a team. I'd like to introduce Doug Coleman, Nate DiNiro and Dionne Fox. They are the Jobwire writers and for now, I'll be editing the site.
We'll be joined by guest editors writing Featured Hire of the Day posts, too. Our first two core guest editors are former Financial Times reporter Tom Foremski of SiliconValleyWatcher and long-trusted media analyst Sam Whitmore of Sam Whitmore's Media Survey. These guys bring years of cutting edge knowledge and experience to the Jobwire and we're very thankful for their participation.
Thanks for stopping by our new site, we hope you'll subscribe and come back often. For those of you with new jobs - congratulations! Now tell us all about it, we want to share your good news with the world!

I know a lot of work went into this project. It's informative and provides a window into the market for people with social media expertise.
