Identi.ca Brings Aboard Three New Hires

Written by Nate DiNiro / November 3, 2008 12:10 PM / 1 Comments

Identica.gifContrôlez-Vous, Inc., aka Control Yourself, Inc., a Montreal, Canada web development firm that produces the microblogging platform Identi.ca, announced today the addition of 3 new hires to address needs in the areas of system administration, development and user experience.

According to the company blog, the hires are attributed to Control Yourself Inc.'s desire to "put the time and effort into making Identi.ca a world-class platform for microblogging". With competition like the Twitter juggernaut, and others like Pownce and Jaiku, Control Yourself Inc. has its work cut out. However, in the face of well-publicized Twitter stability issues and their unique approach of providing an Open Source, distributed, standards-based microblogging platform, they continue to present an alternative to their proprietary counterparts. They also contribute to furthering the debate over enterprise adoption of social media tools. Laconi.ca is the Open Source, distributed platform behind Identi.ca.

Robin Millette was brought aboard as a PHP developer, and he's being tasked with focusing on multimedia and structured notices in the Identi.ca network. Millette is a well-known commodity to people in the Montreal Free and Open Source Software communities. Noted for his organizational skills, he's considered by Control Yourself founder, Evan Prodromou, to be an important part of the Laconi.ca development community! Millette's Identi.ca user name is @millette.

Sarven Capadisli is a user experience professional based in Montreal. Capadisli will be focusing on the heady challenge of creating a "ubiquitous user experience" for Identi.ca as they work to provide a seamless experience on the Web. With the addition of Capadisli, they hope to extend that seamless experience to other sites and services that interact with Identi.ca, like IM and mobile text devices. His Identi.ca account is @csarven.

Aric Gardneris being tapped to provide Linux expertise in the role of System Administrator. A self-taught Linux user and active in the Montreal Linux user community, his immediate charge is to transform the current Identi.ca environment to a more robust state. The company says that since he started last week, he's hit the ground running by managing to get the current environment monitored and documented. You can find Aric on Identi.ca as @foucault.

Update - 11/5/2008:
When we first reported, we were not entirely positive whether the three new hires were the first full-time employees brought aboard. We're happy to report that founder Prodromou confirmed Millette, Capadisli and Gardner are indeed the first full-time employees.

  1. Hey, thanks for the post :) I wanted to add a small correction (I think you changed a link since this article was first published) for my main microblogging profile. It's http://identi.ca/millette although you fill find me using that nick on many many other social sites.
