Microsoft_logo.jpgFormer Executive Vice President for International Business Development at Russian telecommunications company VimpelCom has left to be Microsoft Russia's new President. It was announced Thursday that Nikolay Pryanishnikov will now lead Microsoft's 750 person workforce in Russia.

Nikolay Pryanishnikov was at VimpleCom since 1999, where he held three different executive positions. Before that, he was Deputy General Director of Commercial Business at Moscow Cellular Communications Company.

Russia recently announced that it was pushing Microsoft out of its schools in favor of open source software. They have joined Cuba to write free software that can be used instead of Microsoft.
