Mozilla Gets a New Voice in Europe

Written by Marshall Kirkpatrick / November 3, 2008 1:33 PM / 1 Comments

Are there any tech companies you love so much that it would be a dream come true to be hired as their evangelist? That's what happened to Paris-based Paul Rouget, Mozilla's new European evangelist and our most recent Featured Hire on our new Jobwire site. Jobwire tracks happy stories of new jobs in tech, new media and related industries and this is a particularly happy story.

Rouget has built software on Mozilla technology for years and seems well known and well liked throughout European tech circles. He sounds like a great pick for an evangelist position to us and he's coming on board at an important time for Mozilla. We're glad to make his our hire of the day.

We're featuring this hire because evangelists for big, widely loved tech companies can play a really important roll in user and developer communities. It's a really cool job and a smart position for companies to dedicate resources to.

Last month Mozilla made two related hires in X and Y. Add this newest one to the list and it looks like there's a real commitment to participation coming from the makers of Firefox and related software. At a time when Google's Chrome has rapidly seized market share and Mozilla is innovating fast and furious, including the forthcoming Firefox Mobile browser, an evangelist hire is an important hire for the company and for the industry. Here's our original coverage with more details on Rouget's story.
