The man famous for convincing Bill Gates to name his operating system Windows instead of "Interface Manager" has joined another small startup's advisory board, this time in search. NeXplore is a visual search engine focused on providing page previews and big, plush icons for users to peruse. Former Microsoft VP for Corporate Communications Rowland Hanson has joined the NeXplore advisory board, the company announced today.
Hanson is also on the advisory board of reputation monitoring startup Visible Technologies, he was named the chair of the Board of Directors at mobile marketing firm SoapBoxMobile in 2006 and is the founder of The HMC Company, among other engagements. As Hanson told The Seattle Times in a personal profile of he and his wife four years ago, "We live a humorous life and do kind of crazy things, but it has all worked out."
NeXplore claims to see an average of 1 million unique visitors per month to its search engine.
