Telligent Director of Platform Strategy Lawrence Liu announced that Telligent has hired former Microsoft Senior Research Sociologist Marc Smith.
At press time it is unclear what Smith's position will be at Telligent.
Telligent is a leader in enterprise-proven solutions for online communities and social networks.
Marc Smith used to lead the Community Technologies Group at Microsoft, a group focused on computer-mediated collective action.

My title at Telligent will be "Chief Social Scientist" and my role will be to focus on the application of sociology to improvements to the Harvest community reporting platform. Harvest already provides useful reports about community activity and next steps will focus on the application of social network analysis to identify critical roles that contribute the majority of value to all social media repositories.
