When Ryan Kuder got laid off from Yahoo! in the February shake down, his account of the proceedings on Twitter was so detailed it garnered attention from all around the industry. The former marketing manager at Yahoo! struggled to watch another round of friends laid off this month and decided to use social media again to do something about it.
Now Kuder and friends started a new social network where ex-Yahoo! employees can help hook each other up with freelance work. Called the Purple People Collective, the site just launched today. There's next to nothing on it so far, but we sure like the idea. If you're one of the thousands laid off from Yahoo! the site could help you find your next gig - if you're one of the hundreds of thousands of other people laid off in recent months from the tech sector in general, maybe what these ex-Yahoo folks are doing can be an inspiration. Good luck, Purple People, and right on for supporting one another!

So the question now is, which tech company will be the largest 'Purple People Eater'?

Thanks for the post Marshall. Non-Yahoos can add themselves as well. There's a lot of people out there looking right now.

It's a good question, David. There's lots of talent out there--and it's not just Yahoos. Hopefully we can help match a few folks up with opportunities.
