Former Yahoo! Veteran Joins Microsoft

Microsoft_logo.jpgMicrosoft Corporation announced today they have hired Dr. Qi Lu to be their new President of the Online Services Group. Dr. Lu will "lead Microsoft's efforts in search and online advertising and all the company's online information and communications services". His first day will be January 5, 2009 and he will report to Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer.

Dr. Lu was the Executive Vice President of Engineering for the Search and Advertising Technology Group at Yahoo! He left the company in August 2008 after 10 years of service.

Microsoft was originally founded in 1975 to develop and sell BASIC interpreters for the Altair 8800.
