Founder and CEO of Sxip Identity and Board Member at OpenID Foundation Dick Hardt announced on his blog Friday that he has joined Microsoft. Hardt's title is Partner Architect and he will be working on consumer, enterprise and government identity problems.
Hardt helped develop a user-centric identity system, SXIP (Simple Extensible Identity Protocol), which "provideds separate mechanisms of identity assertion and authentication on the web". Before founding Sxip, he was founder and CEO of ActiveState, where he "bridged the gap between them and Microsoft". While there, he introduced Perl to Windows. It was the first scripting language support of the Microsoft platform.
Hardt will continue to use a Mac "as long as I am more productive on that platform (Hint to Windows 7 team -- make me more productive!)".
