Hip-hop community website Global Grind announced in a press conference in New York City today that rap mogul Russell Simmons will be its new Editor in Chief. The site plans to offer blogs written by top celebrities.
The first group of celebrity bloggers will include Akon, Damon Dash, Ed Lover, LL Cool J, Big Boy, Nas, Nelly, John Legend, Vanessa Simmons and many more. Global Grind "plans on expanding the list in the future to include leading and emerging artists, thought leaders, celebrities, actors, models, DJ's, politicians and activists". Simmons himself will have a blog on the site.
Hip-hop pioneer Russell Simmons was named one of USA Today's "Top 25 Most Influential People of the Past 20 Years" in 2007. "His groundbreaking vision that has influenced music, fashion, finance, television and film, as well as the face of modern philanthropy".
