There are reports this week that President-elect Barack Obama will announce the appointment of Julius Genachowski to be the next United States Federal Communications Commission Chairman. Genachowski was Obama's Chief Technology Advisor during the presidential campaign, where he "promoted a detailed technology and innovation plan that supports net neutrality protections, expansion of affordable broadband and media-ownership rules that encourage more diversity".
Genachowski served as Chief Counsel to former FCC Chairman Reed Hundt from 1994-1997 and is the co-founder of Rock Creek Ventures and LaunchBox Digital. He is a special advisor at General Atlantic and a member of various boards of directors and advisors.
