UK media publisher Telegraph Media Group announced today that it has hired Greg Hadfield to be its new head of digital development. Hadfield "will help drive the group's digital development, initially in sport". In 1995 he was one of the first national newspaper journalists to leave London's Fleet Street (a metonym for the British national press) for the internet.
Hadfield launched soccer website Soccernet, which ESPN later acquired for $40 million. He sold education website Schoolsnet in 2003.
