BBC_logo.jpgToday ZDNet reports that ex Yahoo! Senior VP John Linwood has been hired as the new Chief Technology Officer at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). He will begin April 1st. This is yet another executive departure from Yahoo! following the Carol Bartz appointment as the company's new CEO.

According to Director of BBC Future Media and Technology Erik Huggers, "more of the BBC's content is being produced and distributed using digital platforms, placing a greater emphasis on software engineering".

Prior to joining Yahoo! in May of 2004, Linwood was a General Manager at Microsoft. Before that he was the Chief Technology Officer at The Dodge Group.
