Kaspersky Lab Gets Hacked, Hires Security Expert to Investigate

KasperskyLab_logo.jpgToday CNET News reported that Moscow based security firm Kaspersky Lab has hired a security expert to help them investigate the breeching of its US site this weekend. According to CNet, "the hacker site claiming credit for the breach said on Monday that it had done the same compromise on the Portuguese Web site of antivirus provider BitDefender".

Senior antivirus researcher for Kaspersky Roel Schouwenberg says that no sensitive or customer data was compromised in the Kaspersky breach. Be sure to read the full CNET News post here and get additional information from PC World's coverage of this story here.

  2. Is this the absolute worst thing that could ever happen or what? I cannot thing of any single way in which a security software firm could have its rep tarnished more than by having their own servers hacked. If this were my antivirus company, I would legitimately consider switching.
