News and information source Bloomberg.com reported today that software giant Microsoft has hired former Yahoo! Vice President of Search & Advertising Sciences Larry Heck to work in its online unit. According to a Microsoft spokeswoman, "He will be working for Satya Nadella, SVP, research and development, online services division, and he will start in a few weeks time". This is the third such defection from Yahoo! to Microsoft since Carol Bartz took over CEO duties for Yahoo! earlier this year.
Prior to joining Yahoo! in September, 2005, Heck was Vice President of R&D at Nuance. Before that he was a Senior Research Engineer at SRI.
